A 4-week program with its roots in ancient wisdom, yet relevant to modern needs.
About this Event

“The course was elegantly effective in its simplicity and continually reinforced how to live a spiritually endowed life as a modern practitioner”

- former participant

If you want to learn mindfulness and meditation, it’s best to learn it from someone who has received intensive training under a mentor from a proper lineage!

Having received transmissions from authentic meditation masters and now making it relevant to modern linguistics and psychology, this 4-week program is designed by our spiritual community of long-term practitioners to ensure you establish a strong foundation in your meditation and mindfulness practice.

Unlike other meditation techniques, Zen is a simple, yet profound practice that focuses on the essentials. Its methods and teachings are uncomplicated, yet deeply transformative. Zen Meditation offers us the opportunity to improve our well-being, rediscover inner peace and find balance; we emerge feeling fresher and lighter.

The benefits of having a meditation practice begins within the mind through cultivating clarity and tranquility - you achieve a greater sense of appreciation and concentration. These benefits will naturally spill into every area of your life and transform your day-to-day experience.

This program will be experiential because this has proven to be the most effective way for people to reset, learn and integrate mindfulness practices into their daily life. Not only will you rediscover inner peace, you will learn to make it stick by applying valuable tools learnt in this program to weave mindfulness and self-compassion into both your work and personal lives.

This program will run over 4 Saturdays in October and will be held in the meditation hall of Buddhaguna Buddhist Temple, where the sacred relics of Buddha is housed.

Part of the proceeds from this program will be donated to the temple.

Testimonials:

“Alwin has the rare ability to embody the depth of his own understanding through the simplicity of his teachings which resonate with the needs of the environment. Through his compassionate presence, he skillfully guided us towards opening up to a spaciousness in our meditations, a sense of connection in the emergent dialogue of our reflections, and an awareness in how our experiences on the meditation mat had subtly integrated themselves through the mindfulness of our daily interactions. And he did it all with much compassion, grace, and insight. Thank you Alwin, for all that you are and all that you do!”

About The Facilitator

Alwin grew up in a family with a strong affinity to Avalokiteshvara. His journey began when he was 15, after the passing of his maternal grandmother led him to search for meaning in Buddhist Scriptures. This path led him to healing modalities and subsequently Zen, which he now views as Life's way of bringing him back to what is important. Zen philosophical writings shaped his way of thinking and laid the foundation for his subsequent practices.

Sparks of wisdom led him along and he found teachers in both Eastern and Western Philosophy. He started sharing these texts with friends and soon realised his passion in sharing knowledge with loved ones. After a decade of walking the path without a guide, he realised that it was time to deepen his practice with a community and look for teachers  grounded in pragmatic approaches. He started the search for compassion-based practices, and was quickly recommended The Hermitage Zen by a virtuous friend.

Through his teacher's (Dhammakamo) teachings, Alwin experienced profound transformations in his practice and is now even more motivated to share what he received with those around him and beyond. The practice has also led him out from the corporate life and into a farm. The change allowed him to reconnect with Nature and contribute to its well-being through sustainable biotechnology.

Alwin presently teaches Mindfulness and Loving-Kindness based practices, and serves as The Hermitage Community's esoteric specialist.
