Description: In our busy lives, we give little time to ourselves, focusing on our job, our family, and other pursuits. Meditation practice can be a positive antidote to these challenges, calming us down and opening our hearts. This 4-week course is intended to provide students with practical approaches to mindfulness meditation. Each week will focus on different aspects of getting to know ourselves with an introduction to mindfulness the first week, mindfulness of the body the second week, mindfulness of emotions in week three followed by a practical application to meditation practice with the acronym of RAIN (Recognize, Allow, Investigate, and Nurture). At the end of week 4, we hope you will acquire practical skills to start your own mindfulness meditation practice. We hope you can join us!
The structure for these courses is as follows:
Doors open at 5 p.m. We begin at 5:15.
10-15 minute talk on one aspect of meditation
10-15 minute meditation period
10-15 minute question and answer discussion
April 2—Introduction to Mindfulness meditation
April 9 – Mindfulness of the body
April 16 – No Meditation Class
April 23 – Mindfulness of emotions
April 30 – R.A.I.N. practice
