More information

Mindfulness helps us to deal with & reduce distressing sensations from stress, anxiety & low mood, by repeatedly bringing our mind into the present moment - in the body, the breath, feelings and the world around us. We learn to do this in a way that slows harsh judgment and develops awareness, acceptance and caring – towards our self, others or our situation.

Research has shown that regular practice of mindfulness can help improve our ability to handle suffering, and allow us to choose our thinking and feeling responses to be more focused, wise and positive. (Centre for Mindfulness UMass Medical School)
