About this Event
Are you longing to feel enlivened by nature and expand beyond the virtual world, revitalizing your senses, body, and heart? Together, with the beauty of the evocative landscape of The Arnold Arboretum, where history and beauty meet memory and landscape we will access clarity of the mind, feel the aliveness in the body, and the expansiveness of the heart. As women in STEM, we constantly seek to cultivate our resilience to gain more visibility. Our hike/workshop will not only bring like-minded individuals together but also help us to learn mindfulness practices to improve our resiliency.
You will learn about the practice of mindfulness — the capacity to be fully present to ourselves and the world around us — and then explore this quality of attention as you enter a contemplative relationship with both your inner and outer nature. You will discover how nature supports cultivating expanded states of joy, wonder, and a loving connection with oneself, others, and the larger web of life. These practices contribute to grounding and creating time for ourselves, reducing daily stress, which we continuously face as women in science and connecting with other women in science.
No meditation experience is required simply a willingness to stay curious, attentive and open to being in a new way.
Event details will be shared with the participants. The event will be free for the mothers of the participants in honor of Mother's Day. The leader of our workshop will be Barbara Hamm, Psy.D. (https://www.barbarahamm.com).
