About this Event

What if you could sleep better, reduce stress and enhance your well-being?

In collaboration with Somnus Sleep Wellness, we bring you an 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program. This program was developed at the Stress Reduction Clinic at UMass Medical Center by Jon Kabat-Zinn since 1979.

This evidence-based course has helped more than 25,000 individuals by equipping them with invaluable tools to manage stress, anxiety, and pain. This structured program intertwines mindfulness practices, meditation, and gentle mindful movements.

Conducted in intimate group settings, MBSR is extensively employed in diverse environments, such as sleep clinics, where it effectively addresses sleep-related challenges. This course consists of 8 weekly sessions (2.5 hours each) and a full-day retreat (7.5 hours).
Who Should Join:

This course is ideal for individuals seeking to manage stress, improve their sleep quality, and bring more intentional awareness into their daily lives to live happier and healthier. No prior knowledge or experience with mindfulness is required.

  • Session 1: As long as you are breathing, there is more right than wrong with you
  • Session 2: The role of perception
  • Session 3: There is power and pleasure in being present
  • Session 4: Bringing awareness to the patterns of automatic stress reactivity
  • Session 5: Mindfulness-mediated stress response
  • Session 6: Mindfulness and communication
  • Full Day Retreat
  • Session 7: Mindfulness in everyday life
  • Session 8: The rest of your life


Course Format:

  • Didactic Presentations with handouts
  • Guided Mindfulness Practices with audio recordings to practice at home
  • Weekly Group Discussions and Sharing
  • Daily home practice of 30-45 minutes
  • Understand the difference between sleepiness and wakefulness and learn how to work with sleeplessness at night
  • Learning and experiencing both informal and formal mindfulness practices to cultivate awareness during daytime and night
  • Learn about what mindfulness is, including the relevance of attention, intention, and attitudes of mindfulness


Learning Objectives:

  • Attain a heightened state of composure, vitality, understanding, and enthusiasm in approaching various aspects of life
  • Develop the ability to skillfully manage both short-term and long-term stressful situations, gaining insights into cultivating mindful responses rather than reactive behaviors
  • Acquire enhanced skills to effectively cope with sleep challenges through the application of mindfulness practices

  • Monday nights, starting 7th October 2024 (7-9.30pm)
    7, 14, 21, 28 Oct, 4, 11, 25 Nov and 2 Dec 2024
  • Full Day Retreat: Saturday, 16th Nov 2024 (9:30-5pm, inclusive of lunch)

Facilitators' Bio

Mr Eric Lim

Mr. Eric Lim is the Co-Founder of Somnus Sleep Wellness. He is a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Teacher, the second in Singapore to be certified by the Mindfulness Center at Brown University School of Public Health. He was awarded the Social and Health Manpower Development Programme Fellowship by the Ministry of Health in 2017 to pursue his certification in mindfulness.

From 2014-2023, he spearheaded Brahm Centre’s curriculum development and research on mindfulness, and was also the Head of Systems. He has worked with over 10,000 individuals across all ages and delivered mindfulness courses, workshops and talks to professionals from education, government, financial and social service sectors on stress reduction and sleep wellness.
