About this Event
Immerse yourself in the rich cultural tradition of CHA DAO 茶道 at our Mindful Tea Ceremony, hosted in the tranquil setting of our art gallery.
Event Overview:
This unique event invites you to experience the deep mindfulness and meditative qualities of the traditional Chinese tea ceremony. Under the guidance of our experienced sommelier, you will journey through the art of tea preparation, savoring three distinct types of tea: green tea, jasmine flower tea, and Phoenix Dan Cong oolong tea.
Tea Ceremony Process:
The ceremony will follow a carefully curated sequence that respects the natural fermentation process of the tea leaves:
• Phase 1: We will begin with 2023 Spring Harvest Green Tea (恩施玉露), appreciating its freshness and subtle flavors.
• Phase 2: The focus will then shift to Jasmine Flower Tea, where the delicate floral notes will awaken your senses.
• Phase 3: Finally, we will conclude with Phoenix Dan Cong (乌龙茶), a complex and aromatic oolong tea that embodies the essence of the tea ceremony.
Agenda:
1. Introduction: A brief overview of the classification of Chinese tea leaves and the specific types we’ll be enjoying today. This will include a discussion of brewing techniques and the appropriate utensils to use. We’ll also touch on the cultural significance of the tea ceremony and the connection between tea and mindfulness.
2. Green Tea Preparation: Participants will use a Gaiwan (盖碗) to brew the green tea, learning about the impact of water temperature and brewing time on the tea’s flavor and aroma.
3. Jasmine Flower Tea: After brewing the green tea, we’ll transition to jasmine flower tea. The tea master will demonstrate how to use the Gaiwan to fully extract the tea’s floral essence, explaining the importance of steeping time to achieve the perfect balance of fragrance and taste.
4. Phoenix Dan Cong Oolong Tea: We will finish with Phoenix Dan Cong, a tea that requires precision in brewing to highlight its rich, layered flavors. Participants will learn about the art of high pouring and the subtle techniques that bring out the tea’s full character.
