A Mindful Meditation Mini Retreat is a shorter more accessible version of a traditional meditation retreat-perfect for those who want a deep, restorative experience without needing to take several days off or travel far.
You will be experiencing several different meditations on this spectacular day in October, that will leave you feeling calm, centered and grounded.
Your meditation experience on this day will include:
1. A meditation with the Wild Mustangs and Kit in the big arena.
2. A guided walking meditation in the stone labyrinth.
3. A silent meditation while grounding outside, (even if it's a little chilly, you can do this :-)
4. A Zen Labyrinth Meditation Board Meditation.
The wild mustang is a symbol of freedom & resilience.
FREEDOM: Mustangs embody the spirit of freedom through their wild nature.
RESILIENCE: Mustangs are a hardy population of horses that have adapted to the harsh landscapes of North America.
At Zen Horse they rescue wild mustangs and give them a safe place to live their lives while also being of help in therapy sessions with Kit Maxwell (one of the owners).
A labyrinth is representative of a journey of self-discovery or inner exploration. The spiritual meaning of a labyrinth is deeply symbolic and often associated with inner transformation, meditation, and connection to the divine. Unlike a maze (which is designed to confuse), a spiritual labyrinth is a single, winding path that leads inward to a center-and then back out again. This journey holds profound meaning.
Key Spiritual Meanings of the Labyrinth:
1. Journey Inward and Outward
*Walking a labyrinth represents a pilgrimage-a metaphor for the soul's journey toward inner truth and then back to the outer world with new insight.
*Inward path: letting go, releasing distractions, seeking clarity.
*Center: Stillness, connection to the divine, spiritual insight.
*Outward Path: integration of wisdom gained, renewed purpose.
2. Meditation and Mindfulness Tool:
*Many use labyrinths as a walking meditation-a physical activity that quiets the mind.
*Helps in centering the self, reducing anxiety, and opening up to higher guidance.
3. Symbol of Wholeness:
*A labyrinth is a unified path that symbolizes the wholeness of self. Even when the path turns, it still leads to the center-reflecting how life's twists and turns still bring growth and meaning.
4. Spiritual Transformation:
*Represents the spiritual process of death and rebirth.
*Going into the labyrinth=dying to the old self or ego.
*Coming out=being spiritually reborn with greater awareness.
5. Sacred Space and Connection to the Divine:
*Labyrinths have been used in cathedrals, ancient temples, and sacred sites for thousands of years.
*The spiral or circular shape is often seen as symbolic of the divine feminine, cosmic order, or universal patterns.
A labyrinth is not meant to trick you-it's meant to teach you. It's a sacred symbol of the soul's journey to wholeness, clarity, and divine connection.
On this day you will have time for reflection and time to journal about your experience in both labyrinths, the stone labyrinth and the seated meditation with the zen labyrinth meditation board.
Grounding, also called Earthing, is a practice that brings your awareness back to the present moment, especially when you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or emotionally scattered. Grounding helps stabilize your emotions, calm your nervous system, and reconnect your mind and body. We will discuss during the retreat WHY grounding is important and how grounding can be physical, mental and spiritual. You will be receiving a grounding crystal to take home with you so you can integrate a personal practice of grounding once you leave the retreat.
You will also learn about smudging and why it's important in daily living and a simple breath work technique.
What to bring? a blanket, dress for the weather, a folding chair, your lunch (we will take 30 minutes for a short lunch).
Please eat breakfast before coming. Please plan to show up by 7:45 a.m. if possible.
You will receive a journal and pen and a grounding crystal. You will have an opportunity to purchase a zen labyrinth meditation board, the sacred burning bundles, and sweet grass braids at the end of the retreat.
We will have water and coffee and some snack items available throughout the day.
Cost $111/person
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask :-)
