Purpose: To provide a convenient no-cost resource that supports individuals on their motherhood journey by empowering them to lead healthy lifestyles and allowing them to feel safe and heard.
Location: Five Forks Branch Library - Collaboration Space | 104 Sunnydale Drive, Simpsonville, South Carolina 29681
Schedule: Meets for approximately 60 mins on
- May 10th (10am)
- May 24th (4:30pm)
- June 7th (10am)
- To meet once a month starting in July; additional dates to be announced
Attendees: Approx. 15-20 Pregnant Women/Moms + Health Coach
Description: Discussions are led by a trained health coach exploring wellness topics, relationships & support systems, and individual’s experience. This provides an opportunity for attendees to build connections with other mom’s through peer-learning and shared experience in a safe, healthy, and affirming environment.
Potential focus topics include:
- mindfulness
- work-life balance
- communication and behavior
- nutrition and healthy eating
- movement and rest
- individuals pregnancy or postpartum experience
- local resources that promote healthy lifestyle (i.e. Library, Food Share, Mobile screenings, Mental health Hotlines, My Plate, LiveWell Greenville, etc.)
- Infant/Child CPR Anytime Education (w/ permission from Five Forks Library)
- Potential for guest speakers to discuss health education topics (i.e. local OBGYN, Peds, and mental health providers)
This group is NOT meant to replace or contradict the therapeutic or clinical guidance of a licensed healthcare practitioner. Board-certified health coaches are trained in health education, behavior change, and motivational interviewing. Health Coaches are also trained to guide individuals to seek professional guidance if conversations stray into a clinical scope.
