This is a chance to meet and talk to the Wardens and meet some of the management volunteers. Hot drinks, tea / coffee / hot chocolate will be available free of charge, but donations are always accepted to help with site maintenance.. Home made hot mince pies (we have a mini oven to heat them up) will be ready to sample, along with home made shortbread. We will have a contained firepit to toast marshmallows or to keep everyone 'toasty' if the weather is frosty.
This will be an opportunity to collect some berried holly (you may have to cut it yourself) from the wood. Removing some berried holly helps in a small way to stop the number of holly seedlings which would completely fill the wood if left untouched.
Parking will be in the Yard area of the site, near the Nissen Hut. This is approx 300 metres down the entrance track immediately next to the stonework of the railway bridge in the Alresford - Wivenhoe road.
The mince pies and our gazebo will be in the centre of the Reserve near the metal footbridge, approx 200 metres from the parking and along the main track up the slope.
If someone has a walking disability, we can allow LIMITED parking near the gazebo.
