'Let's Build Fam' is a 10 part series at Mimm Studios in partnership with Art Council England & Nottingham Can with Q&A's and Performances from industries professionals exploring Global Sounds in our intimate loft space working along side some of the best grassroots promoters in Nottingham.
For our next installment we welcome Shae Universe as Can't Stand The Rain takes over the mimm loft with a stacked line up to take you on a journey through RNB, UK Rap and Black Diaspora sounds.
Since bursting onto the scene in 2017, Shae Universe has made waves in the UK, West Africa and beyond making music that engages, enchants and inspires. Her mother a gospel singer and her father a pastor, Shaé weaves her spirituality, faith and sensuality through her work.
Shae is an artist who can both sing and rap, has been co-signed by the likes of Lalah Hathaway, Jorja Smith and Little Simz and has remained entirely independent - navigating the industry on her own terms. With fans at the likes of British Vogue, NME, Rolling Stone, BET, Billboard, Highsnobriety, Complex, Wonderland and NOTION, 2024 has been Shae’s biggest year yet.
Following on from Shae’s classic R&B project Love’s Letter, released February 2024, Shae went on to headline her first ever European tour, release her very own Tiny Desk and was ultimately nominated for a MOBO Award ackniwledging all her hard work Post her phenomenal festival run including SXSW in Austin, Glastonbury Festival, Roskilde Festival in Copenhagen and De Roma Festival in Antwerp, she also had a lead feature on Phabo's latest album Don't Get Too Cozy. Shae has truly taken her music global & is crafting her world in preparation for her first US tour and more new music.
