The popular annual History Festival returns to the Milton Keynes Museum. With approximately 100 reenactors bringing to life history stretching from the Roman Era to the 20th century, there is plenty to see and do over the weekend.Chanz Des Reis will be recreating the brutal period from the 12th century known as the Anarchy, the savage civil war between King Stephen and his cousin, the Empress Matilda, daughter of King Henry I.
The year is 1143, and word has reached Earl Walter Giffard of Buckinghamshire that the Empress Matilda has managed to escape Oxford Castle, held under siege by King Stephen, and is continuing her campaign for the throne. Who should the Earl support, the King who stole the throne, or his cousin, whose arrogance resulted in the population of London rising in revolt against her.
