About this Event

Millwork Conversations is a chat between Omaha’s creators, innovators, artists, thought leaders, and activators. It’s an opportunity to learn from people across communities right here in Nebraska. We dive into new ideas and what’s possible – how to push past real and imagined boundaries. Each talk provides an inspiring, memorable experience for attendees through compelling conversations.

Join us for social hour at Kros Strain from 5p – 6p, followed by an evening of insightful discussion with Terri D. Sanders hosted by Emily Brewer.

_______

Terri D. Sanders is a proud daughter of Omaha and a living example of what it means to lead with purpose, courage, and community at the center. Grounded deeply in North Omaha, she is a lifelong entrepreneur, cultural steward, community connector, and best-selling author of Soul Talk, Pearls of Wisdom, and the 52-Week Gratitude Journal.

She serves as the CEO and Publisher of The Omaha Star, Nebraska’s longest-running Black newspaper, founded in 1938 and continuously published by Black women. As only the fifth publisher and third owner, Terri carries forward a historic legacy while reimagining what community journalism can be in the modern era.

Previously, Terri led the Great Plains Black History Museum, guiding it from decades of dormancy into a thriving, nationally respected cultural institution. Her work has also included leading major economic development efforts in North Omaha and building businesses across more than four decades of entrepreneurship.

Terri’s story is one of resilience, vision, and faith in people. Today, she shares lessons earned through lived experience—through leadership, authorship, and service—about legacy and what it truly means to give voice to community.

Terri D. Sanders — Preserving Legacy. Publishing Truth. Building the Future.
