Short day ride with three routes of 35km, 54km and 75k by gravel bike, MTB or E-Bike exploring trails across the Calder Valley. Highlights include:
i. Over the only mountain col in West Yorkshire
ii. Climb the longest continuous bridleway in Calderdale
iii. Enjoy the bridleway through Castle Carr gatehouse in Luddenden Valley a unique place with no through road
iv. Zip along four quality gravel tracks are linked together below Midgley Moor
v. Cross over the packhorse bridge and along Crimsworth Dean, a stunning National Trust managed valley
vi. Tough climb up to the ‘House of Muck’ with a long descent into Hardcastle Crags and onto Hebden Bridge
vii. The long ‘black’ route takes riders up Cragg Vale and onto moorland singletrack at Manshead
We have selected bridleways and greenways to suit gravel bike (‘‘blue’ and ‘red’) with the rough stuff left for the mountain bikers and experienced gravel riders (‘black’).
1. The event hub is at Cycle Gear, an independent bike shop at 68 Horton Street, Halifax
2. On the day enjoy a relaxed tea / coffee / cake inside the bike shop and pick up your embroidered cloth badge when you register between 8am - 10am (NO 'on the day entry'). There is hot homemade soup and bread rolls after your ride back at the shop.
3. Any gravel bike / mountain bike / E-bike is welcome and would get you around the route.
4. It is a self-guided ride with no way markings saying ‘Mills n Moors route’ and you will receive all three gpx route files in the week leading up to the event.
