About the event
As a born and bred Peterborian, Deljit (Del) Singh recently worked with Millfield Link Project to make a film of his memories of growing up in Peterborough’s Millfield area. Commended by viewers for his entertaining style and heart-warming anecdotes, the film of Del’s Millfield Magical History Tour was viewed by over 12,500 people on its release. For Millfield Festival 2021, Del has agreed to do a live walk version of this Magical History Tour for small groups of festival goers. This walk experience will also include the sights and stories that didn’t make it onto film.
For all those who enjoyed the film and would like to a sneak peak of our next project with Del, then he has kindly agreed to give festival goers an exclusive of his Millfield Magical History Tour Part 2, which continues his walk from where the film left off.
Walk, look, listen, and laugh as Del brings to life the history of the Millfield area of the city through the ages in his unique and fun style.
Suitable for ages 16+
What to expect
An excellent inner-city walking experience that is both educational and entertaining. Hear stories about the people and the communities that shaped our city across the decades. The perfect opportunity as part of a small friendly group to reminisce about how things were and share your own stories of Peterborough with the group, or simply listen and learn more about the history of Peterborough as it was.
This walking tour is outdoors, lasting between 60-90 minutes, and will include walking through the streets of Millfield. Some streets are narrow and busy, and the walk will involve crossing roads. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather, and don’t forget a bottle of water!
Each walk is capped at 10 places to ensure social distancing where possible. We want all our events to be safe and for people to feel comfortable, so please do feel free to wear a mask if you’d prefer. As places are limited please book up sooner rather than later to avoid missing out.
If you have any accessibility requirements and want to know more about the route, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us on [email protected] or text 07435985935.
