About this Event
Inspired by two sell-out Mill Road Fringe events, a new-sprung poetry group is bringing spoken word to Cambridge in 2024. Poetry brings together the many voices of our city and enables us to explore ourselves and the world around us within a supportive community. Furious, joyful, timid or loud, all poetry is welcome, so please come along. Four poetry evenings will take place across the spring and autumn, in partnership with Hot Numbers Gwydir Street: 14th March, 30th May, 10th October and 28th November.
Tickets will be available to purchase one month before each event and can only be purchased for one event at a time.
Bookings are now live for the third event on Thursday 28 November 2024. To ensure that each poet receives equal support, we ask that you stay for the whole evening.
We know Poetry Thursdays tickets sell out quickly. Please don’t despair if you find this event is sold out! You can make sure you have advanced warning about future events by adding your name to the Mill Road Fringe Mailing List (see below).
If you have a ticket and find you can’t attend, please cancel via Eventbrite so that others can take your place, even if it is the day of the event. Thank you.
The format will be a programme of readings by local poets and writers which is curated and led by poet Jon Morley. There is something special about the atmosphere in Hot Numbers on Poetry Thursdays – spoken word poetry in a fabulous neighbourhood café for a small, respectful audience is relevant, poignant and powerful.
Mill Road Fringe’s Poetry Thursdays have proved so popular that a spin-off Mill Road Fringe Poetry Group has been established. Please contact Emily Patterson at [email protected] to find out more and to add your name and email address to the mailing list so that you hear about future poetry events in Cambridge, including plans for next year’s Cambridge Poetry Festival and the associated programme of Mill Road Fringe Poetry events.
Please also contact Emily if you would like to get involved in the organising side of things and to share your work at future poetry events.
Doors open at 6.30pm - Poetry starts at 7.00pm and runs until around 9.30pm.
Refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the evening
