MilkxTonicxStorySlam brings you Miracles: a night of music, poetry & storytelling to raise money for the Pakistan Flood Relief appeal.
About this Event

Join us for an eclectic evening of music, poetry and storytelling at The Wardrobe Theatre brought to you by Eggnog; a collaboration between Milk, Tonic & Story Slam.

Find herein: vim, verse and verve; a recipe of creativity centred around the theme of ‘Miracles’ that will warm your cockles, tickle your funny bones & whet your whistle all in the name of raising funds towards the Pakistan flood relief appeal.

Featuring live music from Roberta Pia, poetry from Chris White and stories from Story Slam’s finest raconteurs & open mic slots.

Performers:

ROBERTA PIA

As soon as Robereta was old enough to walk, she used to take herself to bed with a Fisher Price cassette player every night and sing herself to sleep. She’s still singing to this day. She also writes songs, performs them on stage, and DJs when she gets bored of that. Originally from Scotland, she has since made Bristol her forever home.

Co-founder of The Banana Sessions and queer collective Grrrl Crush - championing women, non binary and LGBTQ+ people in music and beyond - she’s blazed the festival trail across the UK and Europe, from the Edinburgh Fringe to Glastonbury; DJed for Charlotte Church’s Late Night Pop Dungeon & Baga Chipz (Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK); and did an online collaboration with KT Tunstall.

CHRIS WHITE

Chris White is a poet and performer based in Exeter. He’s a multiple slam winner, a former ‘Bard of Exeter,’ and Exeter Cathedral’s first Riddler in Residence. He regularly creates and performs spoken-word and theatre, and has brought his work to nights and festivals from Latitude to Tongue Fu. He's also the founder and host of Spork! Poetry CIC, producing regular events in Exeter and across Devon.

About the organisers:

Milk Poetry:

Milk Poetry selects the finest, freshest poets from the UK and beyond to produce the most nourishing and eclectic spoken word bonanza you could ever hope for.

Tonic:

Bristol's monthly music and poetry party.

Story Slam:

Story Slam is where you can hear people’s amazing true stories told live on stage. Established in 2014, Storyslam has become one of Bristol’s most beloved community events and has played host to over 1,200 storytellers over the last 8 years. Each show has its own theme and is hosted by a variety of loving and compassionate compères who guide the audience through stories ranging from the hilarious and triumphant to the heart-breaking and tragic.

Human Appeal: Pakistan Emergency Fund.

Proceeds from the evening will be donated towards the Pakistan Emergency Fund through Human Appeal - an official partner in the flood response and recovery that is providing vital assistance and resources that are urgently needed. More information on the charity and where the proceeds will go can be found on their website here: https://tinyurl.com/bdfjyjvs
