Mild Universe is a San Francisco-based indie-dance collective that fuses 90s house influence with classic disco, soul, and post-punk, creating an eclectic live performance that’s impossible to resist. Percussionist and songwriter Sam Jones crafts catchy indie-psych tracks with a dancefloor twist, while singer Jamie Zimmer’s effortlessly soulful vocals add a touch of magic.
Since their more minimalist beginnings in 2019, the band has expanded to a seven-piece ensemble, known for their lush synth textures and funk-inspired horn arrangements. Improvisation plays a big role in their music, infusing it with energy and spontaneity. Laden with hypnotic grooves, earworm saxophone melodies, and cathartic instrumental arrangements, Mild Universe has become a standout in the Bay Area music scene.
With their reputation for high-energy live performances, Mild Universe has shared the stage with artists like Say She She, Sugar Candy Mountain, Harvey Sutherland, and Automatic. Their highly anticipated debut LP, “Everything Must Change,” drops at the end of July on vinyl. This album, recorded in just two days at Hyde Street Studios, is a collection of dreamy dance tracks written between 2019 and 2021.
