About this Event
Mild Traumatic Brain Injury is a growing issue in the armed forces, among veterans, and many first responders. With the number of incidents growing, the severity of the health issues increasing, the ineffectiveness of current mTBI policy, and the rise of suicide rates among those most affected, a change is necessary.
The necessary change is two-fold. First, we must critically evaluate the treatment models based on the effect that mTBI and blast injuries have on the brain. Lasting brain repair can only come from a clearer understanding of the injuries sustained during mTBI in an updated model and their affect on whole person health. Second, policies must change to support and fund brain repair for those that already suffer long term mTBI symptoms. These policies must also be designed to include effective early intervention to stop brain decline before it ever occurs.
We are inviting key military and community leaders as well as critical decision makers to join us for this event. This includes Veteran leaders, SOF community leaders, mTBI medical experts, first responder leadership, and legislators to be a part of this special symposium focused around revolutionizing care and implementing policy changes for true brain repair in early and late stages of mTBI.
We will have a special medical presentation by Dr. Chris Slininger. Dr. Slininger is a craniocervical specialist and will be presenting on the sequence of injuries and degeneration that the brain goes through following a mTBI from both head impacts and concussive blast injuries. His presentation will dive deep into the root causes of the long term symptoms of mTBI in the brain, brainstem, neck, and gut, all while building a practical road map to guide policy changes in mTBI care and early intervention.
Registration is free and food will be provided thanks to our sponsors. Make sure to register to reserve your seat.
