Miki Berenyi Trio are Miki Berenyi on vocals/guitar, Kevin ‘Moose’ McKillop on guitar and Oliver Cherer. The three musicians first worked together during Piroshka’s 2021 tour – Miki and Kevin being founder members, Oliver coming in on bass to replace Mick Conroy (Modern English) who had moved to the US. When the global pandemic made touring impossible, Miki spent the lockdown months writing her memoir, Fingers Crossed, released in 2022 to widespread acclaim. To provide some musical accompaniment for the string of book events and signings, Miki Berenyi Trio was formed.
The band has developed a momentum of its own, touring with the Wedding Present and Gang of Four and sold out London co-headline show with Aircooled. Miki Berenyi Trio are planning to record and release an album in 2024.
Formed in 2023, Wyr credits their unique sound to influences such as My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, and The Cure.
Listeners can find themselves immersed in their trance inducing atmosphere oozing with fuzzed out feedback and plenty of reverb. A mixture of post punk inspired spoken word and ethereal vocals float above the soundscape of fragrant guitar tones and huge basslines to reveal a vulnerability through lyrics with themes of loss, anger, queer identity, love, catholic guilt and mental health.
Since their first gig at a sold out Louisiana supporting Motel Thieves and Waterpistol in October 2023, Wyr have grown their following and gained a lot of traction in the Bristol music scene, supporting the likes of The Pleasure Dome and Bible club. Outside of Bristol, Wyr have played shows in Brighton, Cardiff and Newport, immersing themselves fully into the Welsh music scene with a highlight show supporting Graywave at iconic venue Clwb Ifor Bach.
With the release of their debut single “Anyway” and a headline release show at Rough Trade, Wyr are earning their place as ones to watch in the Bristol music scene.
