Mike Maurice is a singer/songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based in Biddeford, Maine. With soulful tones inspired by John Mayer and layered with the earthy vibe of Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, and Gregory Alan Isakov, you experience a sound that is described as soothing, with a range of energetic tendies. Couple this with melancholy undertones and songs about grieving, loss, love, and the inner dialogue that many can relate to in isolation of the pandemic, and this is the sound of Mike Maurice.

Built on a deep shared love of playing music, pizza, and laughter; John Hughes Radio’s #1 is keeping all things and times fun. Offering one of the best dance-rock experiences in Maine, with players that bring a more realized and technical skill to their performance.
The bands friendships reach back to the 90s and make music dedicated to the stereo and video times of the 80’s that graced their ears while in their beds like so many were then. Hence the name, and now imagine them on the stage at the big dance in a Hughes-flavored film.
Starting in 2015 and blasting off in 2016 delivering a powerful performance during a sold out David Bowie Memorial at the State Theater, they built their name around Portland. Their single and video for “Fade Out” was plastered around social media with 128k views with local radio and the Portland Press Herald following with features and write-ups.
The band continued on with their original line-up until time took over. They still main their original core of with the glass-breaking power of Sean Slaughter on vocals, along with Rock and Roll guitar savant Mike Solak and detailed introspective songwriter Matt Zimmerman.
Their new lineup features the educated, rock solid Jason Marshall (Eldemur Krimm) and bombastic drumming wizard Max Heinz (Sunset Hearts, Superorder, etc) to provide a new and propulsive foundation. The future holds a new record on the horizon, and with a more uptempo driving sound they’re bound to provide more than just a normal rock show experience.
