As a band, The Smiths need no introduction. Active from 1982 to 1987, all five of their studio albums reached the UK top five and they are widely lauded as one of the most influential bands of all time.To celebrate the publication of his memoir, Mike Joyce will be heading out to share an open-hearted story of what it was like to play the drums in The Smiths.
His off-piste, frank perspective allows him to recontextualise the canonised stories with beautifully vulnerable, human insight. His story will resonate with fans of The Smiths as they rejoice in joining Mike in his love for the band that changed lives and provided such inspiration to the musicians that followed them.
This event will feature an interview hosted by The Guardian’s Dave Simpson, audience Q&A, and book signing.
