Event DetailsCelebrate birds during this fun, interactive festival for the whole family. A live bird "meet and greet", bird walks, live music, games, partner booths, crafts, activities and a migratory bird obstacle course are just a few of the things we have in store for you. This festival is part of a global effort to further migratory bird conservation by creating a worldwide campaign organized around the planet’s major migratory bird corridors as well as another way we are celebrating the City of San Marcos' recent designation as a Bird City. The 2025 theme is "Shared Spaces: Creating Bird-Friendly Cities and Communities." To learn more and view the day's schedule, visit sanmarcostx.gov/migratory.
Youth Art Contest
In honor of National Draw A Bird Day on April 6, area youth (ages 15 and younger) are invited to submit their best picture of a bird or birds for a sticker art contest we will be hosting at the Migratory Bird Day Festival. Drawings can be dropped off to the staff at the San Marcos Discovery Center from now until 10am on the day of the Festival, and voting will take place by Festival attendees between 10am and 1pm. Please make sure your first name, age, phone number and a brief comment about what inspired your art are clearly labeled on the back of your work. The winning bird design will be printed on stickers for all of San Marcos to enjoy and the top 3 designs will receive a "birdy" gift basket. All art will then be scanned onto our Bird City website: sanmarcostx.gov/birdcity.
