Come join us for a Migrant Women Talk with Layla Ismail and Negat, about community engagement, advocacy and activism!
To kickstart the migrant women series, Layla Ismail, Development Manager and Negat Hussein, Drop-in Coordinator of Refugee Women of Bristol (RWoB) will talk about their journey in engaging their communities and empowering migrant women to take action on the issues that matter to them. The migrant women series is a selection of talks designed to celebrate and elevate the diverse experiences and perspectives of migrant women in Bristol.
Their activism created many community grassroots initiatives to highlight the needs of migrant women in Bristol. They have been campaigning against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) for the last 15 years. They were instrumental in the founding and opening of The Bristol Community Rose Clinic . They have worked tirelessly to advocate for migrant women to access essential support services.
RWoB is the only multi-ethnic, multi-faith organisation specifically targeting the needs of refugee women in Bristol, they are directly governed by women of the refugee and asylum-seeking community. Layla and Negat have been directly involved in founding and running RWoB for the last 20 years. By coming to this event you will:
-Find out more about the important work of RWoB
-Find out more about the community initatives led by Layla Ismail and Negat Hussein

-Have a Q&A with Layla and Negat at the end.
