About this Event
Our workshop aims to bring together migrant communities across Leicester and explore their stories through dress, accessories and photographs that represent their journey and lived experiences within the city. Please bring along one of the following items to the workshop that represent you or your family’s lives of moving or living in Leicester.
1) a photograph
2) dress item
3) accessory
When choosing what to bring, it would be great if you could think about the following questions – but don’t worry or overthink it, we will talk about these further in our workshop!
1) What made you select the item or photograph you brought?
2) When did you buy or get this clothing item or outfit? / If you brought a photograph: When was it taken?
3) What kind of meaning does this clothing item have for you or your family, what does it stand for?
4) Has your or your family’s way of dressing changed since settling in Leicester/the UK?
5) Why do you think dress matters when talking about migration?
We are looking forward to meeting you at the workshop on the 12th of October at the Leicester Museum and Art Gallery starting at 11 am in the Leicester Stories Gallery Community Space. There will be staff on the day to help direct you to the room and assist with any additional needs.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us at [email protected]!
See you there!
