Live Fire Operations for Firefighters
Comprehensive Training in Burn Building Operations, Safety, Ventilation, Forcible Entry, and Search & Rescue
This intensive hands-on course is designed to prepare firefighters for safe, effective operations in live-fire environments. Participants will train in a certified burn building where they will experience realistic fire conditions while applying critical skills under controlled supervision.
The curriculum emphasizes NFPA-compliant safety practices, proper use of PPE/SCBA, situational awareness, and crew coordination. Students will develop and refine tactical competencies including ventilation techniques, forcible entry, and primary/secondary search and rescue operations. Live-fire evolutions provide opportunities to practice fire attack, hose line management, and victim removal in smoke-charged, heat-intense conditions.
By the end of the course, firefighters will be able to:
- Recognize and mitigate hazards associated with live-fire environments
- Conduct coordinated interior firefighting operations in a burn building
- Perform ventilation operations to control fire behavior
- Execute forcible entry using appropriate tools and tactics
- Conduct systematic search and rescue in low-visibility conditions
- Operate as part of an effective, safety-focused fireground team
This course is ideal for new firefighters seeking foundational skills or seasoned personnel looking to refresh and validate competencies through realistic scenario-based training.
