Maygen & The Birdwatcher:
Maygen & The Birdwatcher weave a rich tapestry of Americana, blending folk and country with an eclectic twist. Lead singer-songwriters Maygen Lacey and Noah Neumann began as a duo and quickly realized their sonic vision needed more. At the heart of their sound is a collective of talented musicians. Multi-instrumentalist Nik Pellinen adds depth with his banjo, lap steel, electric guitar, and harmonies while Jesse Moravec brings a vibrant touch with mandolin and harmonies. Fiddle player Evin Haukos and drummer-percussionist Peter Anderson round out the ensemble, crafting a fresh take on bluegrass-infused folk. It’s a hyphenated hybrid that can come only from a seasoned—and tightly knit—band.
With a sound that’s both familiar and innovative, Maygen & The Birdwatcher have garnered accolades like Album of the Year, Americana Artist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year from the Midwest Country Music Organization, and have had their songs featured in Spotify’s Indie Bluegrass and New Grass playlists, Minnesota Monthly, 89.3FM The Current, and many others. They have toured the country and shared stages with the likes of Sierra Ferrell, Old Crow Medicine Show, Grace Potter, The Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Indigo Girls, Yonder Mountain String Band, Molly Tuttle, Lindsey Lou, The Last Revel and more.
Their latest offering, Leap Year (released August 2, 2024), invites listeners into a contemplative journey inspired by the celestial themes of 2024, reflecting their unique blend of instrumentation and vocals. As Maygen & The Birdwatcher continue to evolve, they leave fans eager for more of their original, captivating music.
Molly Brandt:
Named 2023 Americana Artist of the Year at the Midwest Country Music Awards, and with her powerful vocals, compelling storytelling, and unforgettable performances, Molly Brandt is making waves in the independent music scene. Drawing inspiration from songwriting legends, her songs weave tales of heartache, resilience and triumph, delving into blue-collar struggles, dive bar revelries, long car rides, and cold-blooded revenge. Brandt captivates audiences with her fiery delivery, memorable attire and evocative lyrics as she showcases powerful vocals, compelling storytelling, and unforgettable performances. Her 2023 debut album, Surrender to the Night, blends honky-tonk, countrypolitan and alt-rock influences. She returned to the studio in early 2024, exploring an even broader range of roots music. The result is her sophomore album, American Saga, telling epic character and place-based stories taking place in the American landscape. American Saga is collection of distinctly American stories, containing larger-than-life characters, place-based narratives, hard truths, and poignant messages. Exploring topics of addiction, misogyny, capitalism, death, abuse, and climate change, Brandt approaches the stylistic edges of Americana, creating something entirely new and unmistakably unique.
