About this Event
Join us for an enchanting afternoon as we present a diverse selection of music, ranging from classical masterpieces to contemporary favorites. Our dedicated musicians have been diligently preparing to deliver a performance that will warm your heart and elevate your spirits, celebrating the beauty of the spring season.
Prepare yourself for an emotionally evocative concert experience. One of our members will perform as a soloist in Ennio Morricone's "Gabriel's Oboe," a touching piece celebrating a famous missionary. Another selection, Samuel R. Hazo's "Each Time You Tell Their Story," honors our soldiers with a moving narration based on a reflective poem penned by the poet laureate of Pennsylvania. Additionally, Richard Wagner's "Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral" celebrates music's grandeur and ceremonial character, featuring one of our members on the organ.
Celebrating our 35th season, the Mid-South Symphonic Band comprises of 70 dedicated musicians from the greater Chattanooga area. Under the leadership of Conductor Scotty Jones and Conductor Emeritus Jim Souders, the ensemble features performers skilled in brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. These individuals come from diverse backgrounds and volunteer their time to share their musical talents with each other and the community.
Admission is free! Donations are welcome and will support our future concerts and community outreach programs.
