This October 10 at 10 pm, the sanctuary lights dim and the pulpit turns blood-red. Step into Birdie’s unholy chapel for Midnight Mass, a new late-night revival hosted by the enigmatic Reverend Leroy Rott and Brother Herman Ennurdz.
Hymns turn into howls, and the gospel is delivered straight from the silver screen at this blasphemously silly service.
The first gathering calls forth the cult classic Witchboard (1986), starring Tawny Kitaen and Kathleen Wilhoite and no one else, screened live with audience call-and-response, and drinking games for the faithful and of age. Expect ritual, revelry, and maybe even a few horror history revelations.
Like an old-time tent revival, Midnight Mass invites the congregation to laugh, scream, and testify together. But beware: salvation is never guaranteed.
