This is a circular walk with autumn colour starting from Kirknewton Village Hall and proceeding to Hethpool via Hethpool Linn, which should be in flow at this time of year. We then ascend over Black Bog onto Midhill followed by Straw Hill to view one of the many Iorn Age Forts in the Cheviots, before returning to West Newton via the bridleway and then to Kirknewton along the road.Dress for changeable weather and wear suitable footwear. Bring a packed lunch, snacks and a drink for the break.

Going north past Wooler on the A697, turn left at Akeld onto the B6351. At Kirknewton village park alongside the village hall.
