About this Event
Gather with your Middle family to worship, dance and sing as we launch another programmatic year! Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis will preach, as we gather in the street in front of the sanctuary. This celebration is a proclamation: No fire can burn revolutionary love. The songs within and between us sustained us through the blaze, and will continue to lift us up as they echo off the surrounding buildings. Together, we form the triumphant voice of God that heralds liberation!
Due to rising COVID levels, we are requiring all attendees to wear a mask and be vaccinated. You must bring proof of vaccination and your photo ID. And please wear a KN95 mask or surgical masks, as they offer more protection than cloth masks.
Registration is required! Anyone who is not registered will not be admitted inside the 2nd Avenue block.
When you arrive, please enter on the northwest corner or 6th street side and 2nd avenue (neart Mighty Quinn's BBQ). After worship, everyone will leave on the 6th street side of the block. Please do not bring any bags larger than a fanny pack, they will not be allowed within the enclosure and we do not have anywhere to check them. After worship, we invite you to take the celebration with you to a nearby park or restaurant but due to time and safety constraints we need to move people out of the block.
The worship will also be livestreamed for anyone who prefers to celebrate with us online! If you are not vaccinated, we lovingly invite you to join this virtual celebration.
In the event of rain, we will gather in the sanctuary of Marble Collegiate Church (1 W 29th St, New York, NY) starting at 1:30 p.m. ET.
