About this Event
Experience the gentle and nourishing practice of Yin, where ancient traditions such as Hatha Yoga, Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Taoism come together to heal both your body and mind. By targeting the connective tissues known as fascia, this practice helps to move energy through the body's network, creating a communication channel throughout the body.
These postures are typically done on the ground, with or without the use of props, and are held for 2-5 minutes. In between the long holds, we practice The Rebound, which is a time for the body to "bounce back" from the hold through movement (yang) or stillness (yin) or both.
My classes incorporate the five elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which are water, wood, fire, earth, and metal, mirroring the natural world. These elements also cycle with the seasons- winter, spring, summer, late summer, and fall. The theory of the 5 Elements is based on observing nature's patterns and suggests that the flow between seasons creates balance and harmony while in constant motion. We are the elements.
The postures, along with yogic breathing , meditation, and sound meditation, help to move energy throughout the body's energetic systems. During this practice, stillness can bring up various emotions, creating a space for personal growth and exploration.
Come and surrender your body to find a balance between the physical and mental layers. Every time you step on your mat is a new experience.
Classes are small and for all abilities-beginners are welcome! I firmly believe in body awareness over rigid alignment rules, you have full autonomy over your body in my space XOXO
