The people of the Hudson Valley counties played unique and important roles in the history of American slavery and abolitionism. The region was a major center of enslavement in the North. It also played significant roles in the abolitionist movement and Underground Railroad. The Mid-Hudson Antislavery History Project (MHAHP) works to call attention to this neglected aspect of our past.
