About this Event
IN PERSON
In celebration of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture's 100th anniversary, join us for Mic’d at MIRS, an intimate series of live “mini concerts" and DJ sets within the library’s research divisions. For the love of Black culture, continues a special Valentine’s Day edition of Mic’d at MIRS.
The sets from DJ Shawn Dub will be a meditative experience through the Library’s collection of music, spoken word and recorded sound.
In partnership with The Lot Radio, Mic'd at MIRS will activate the Center's collections of recorded sound, poetry and music with special guest curators. Performances will take place in the Moving Image and Recorded Sound Division (MIRS, pronounced “meers”), which collects and preserves audio and moving image materials related to the experiences of people of African descent. The series will employ the archives to inspire artists and musicians as they breathe new life into the research materials through live performances.
A reception to celebrate the love of reading will follow, with book giveaways from the 100 Black Voices, the Schomburg Centennial Reading list.
Please note - these performances take place in a research division, it is required that all guests check in their bags and coats.
FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Space is limited.
