About this Event
This class is designed for anyone who wishes to gain a foundational understanding of Power BI whether they are truly new to its use or simply wish to “fill in the gaps” of their knowledge. Special emphasis will be given to comparing and contrasting the capabilities of Power BI with those of Excel.
Class format will provide time for the instructor to recommend best practices, explain new concepts, introduce shortcuts, and answer questions. Participants will have time to apply new skills to real world scenarios. Topics include:

• Cleaning and transforming data with the query editor
• Selectively rolling back steps in the query editor
• Profiling data in order to identify & resolve data anomalies
• Shaping data for analysis & accessing the M code editor
• Deleting, promoting, grouping, sorting & filtering rows of data
• Combining, extracting, transforming & unpivoting columns of data
• Scraping data from websites and reports
• Summarizing data in tables and matrices
• Visualizing data across various chart types
• Mapping geographic data in Power BI
• Creating KPI gauge and card visuals
• Enhancing data analysis with custom formatting and rich tooltips
• Modeling data with DAX calculations
• Creating calculated measures and conditional columns
• Creating interactive visualizations
• Setting up data hierarchies & drillthrough
• Filtering and slicing reports
