Organizers said the sale is to help raise funds for the group's ongoing efforts.
Fellow nurses and the general public can purchase cookbooks from the Michigan Tri-City Nurse Honor Guard on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Books are $25 each and purchases can be made with cash or check.
Named after the famed English nurse, Florence Nightengale, the organization provides a Nightengale tribute to recognize those individuals who have dedicated their lives to the profession of nursing throughout the Tri-Cities.
"We celebrate the lives and work of each nurse in the Tri-City area - Bay/Midland/Saginaw Counties," said Mary Thompkins, lead organizer for the Michigan Tri-City Nurse Honor Guard. "We consider it a privilege to participate in the memorial service or provide a living tribute to our fellow nurses and celebrate their years of service to the profession."
Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. has developed a close working relationship with the Michigan Tri-City Nurse Honor Guard providing space for new member orientations and trainings in a real-world environment.
"We believe in the honors they perform for their fellow professionals throughout the Tri-City communities," said Rodney Wakeman, co-owner of Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. in Saginaw. "They are dedicated volunteers whose services are well-received by families. We are honored to help wherever possible."
