About this Event
Opening Reception | Refreshments will be served.
Michele Del Campo’s new series of works Immigration Stories from Florida Artists is both personal and universal. Del Campo met with each artist in person, in their studios or homes, and sketched their portrait after interviewing them. He selected the most extraordinary stories, one from each country. These artists share their trials, their reasons for immigrating, their dreams, and the new identities created because of their displacement.
Michele Del Campo was born in 1976 in San Nicandro Garganico, a small town in southern Italy. Isolated in the countryside, he would spend his time drawing and cycling long distances when not at school. In 2006, Del Campo won the most prestigious painting prize in Spain, the “Premio BMW,” and in 2007 he finished his studies with a specialization in “Artes Plásticas” (Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, and Drawing specialties together).
The exhibition in the Community Gallery is funded by a grant from Broward County Cultural Division.
