The Numismatic Society of Ireland (Northern Branch) are hosting an afternoon of free public lectures on Saturday 5th April! Inspired by the life of Michael Dolley, these lectures are a celebration of the 100th anniversary of his birth. Born in Oxford, Michael Dolley (1925–1983) was a renowned numismatist and historian, particularly known for his work on Anglo-Saxon, Irish, and Manx coins.
There will be 3 main speakers at this event;
- Dr Kristin Bornholdt Collins – Making Waves – Dolley and the Vikings in Dublin, Belfast and the Isle of Man
- Dr John Rainey – Personal Recollections – Standing on the Shoulders of a Giant
- Oisín Mac Conamhna – From Sihtric to Sarsfield: Somes Aspects of Irish Numismatics, in Memory of Michael Dolley
