Michael Cortez takes the stage at Jives Coffee Lounge on Saturday, December 14th, from 2:30pm - 4:30pm!After a long hiatus from the music scene, Michael Cortez is set to return to pick up where he left off 18 years ago. Michael is a multi instrumentalist ranging from The Kalimba, Acoustic Guitar to Percussive instruments such as the RAV Drum. His main focus is on the Native American Flute. Michael mastered his ability on the Native American Flute in a matter of days and recorded his first CD within two weeks. The Professional Touring began and Michael never looked back. Touring for so long and Personal setbacks sent Cortez into walking away from it all right at the height of his career. Fast forward 18 years later to 2024 the point where Michael started his journey once more has been fruitful. His gift is once more shared with the world and his creativity is now off the chart. Michael has no musical background nor education. He calls it all a gift. This time around instead of playing the standard tribal music of the NAF which he was getting quite bored with, came up with an idea. His first love of music genre was Smooth Jazz and a thought came one day of wondering what it would sound like to create backing tracks to his favorite genre. He tried it and a new genre he created was conceived. "I don't know of any other Native American Flute Player that has crossed over from traditional Native American Flute playing to another genre." Not only is his taste in the cross over related to Smooth Jazz but to Neo Soul and R&B. Some of his music creates a smooth as silk beat while other music could be compared to a Romantic Flair of Love Songs. Any of his new beginnings are gaining attention. HIs YouTube Channel, which was just created in the Spring of 2024, has now gone Global and getting rave reviews. Cortez is also getting great support from his music Peers. His music is like now other and is likeable to so many people.
