Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Michael Charles moved to the US in 1990 at the invitation of Buddy Guy's management. Over the next 30 years, Charles worked the Chicago blues circuit with Buddy Guy, Phil Guy, James Cotton, Eddy Clearwater, Junior Wells, George Baze, and Jimmy Dawkins, was nominated for a Grammy award ten times, performed at the Chicago Blues Fest, Philadelphia Jazz and Blues Fest, Windy City Live Television, WGN TV, JBTV, The Chicago Tribune, The Chicago Sun Times, and The College Music Journal, and in 2015, was inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame.
Michael Charles’ discography is comprised of 37 releases including a double-CD thirty year anthology. Michael Charles is currently on his 18th international tour, “Guitars, Music and Miles 2025". The tour will see a multitude of concerts and appearances as Michael performs a whole new list of cities, festivals, and music venues, as well as re-visiting some of his favorites from the last 17 tours. This is his first appearance at The Ideal.

Based out of Omaha, Secret Formula weaves a rich tapestry of musical influences from each members' hometowns, harnessing the soulful blues of Memphis, the swampy rhythms of Louisiana, the rugged rock of Alabama, and the gritty storytelling of the Carolinas to craft a distinctive and unforgettable sound all their own. The 5-piece band shows a dynamic range of energy and songwriting in its debut album, “Roll Them Dice”, and their live shows deliver an energized, authentic experience for all to enjoy.
