Michael has been involved in recreation since his early childhood. He grew up across the street from a park in Dublin, Georgia and knew he was destined to serve in the recreation and parks field. He graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Administration beginning his career in Cherokee County Georgia serving in both the recreation, operation and administrative divisions.He left Cherokee County in November 2017 after 21 years to become the Operations Division Manager for Cobb PARKS. Michael was appointed Interim Director of Cobb County PARKS in late 2020 and named Cobb PARKS Director in June 2021. In 2024, Michael received the Cobb County Silver Eagle Award, an award given by the Department Managers Team to recognize outstanding leadership and teamwork among the Cobb County Management Team.
He was the President of the Georgia Recreation & Park Association (GRPA) in 2015 and is a member of the National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials and the National Recreation & Park Association. Michael was named the Georgia Recreation & Park Association Distinguished Professional of the Year in 2024 and currently serves on the Leisure Careers Foundation and chairs the Hall of Fame Committee for GRPA. Michael and his wife Tiffani have been married 12 years and they have a 14-year old Shiba Inu, Saki. Michael, in his spare time, enjoys golfing, fishing, traveling and cheering on his favorite sports teams. His greatest accomplishment is being able to lead the staff of Cobb County PARKS. He is blessed to work with such a wonderful, committed and creative staff of professionals, providing service to the community.
