Born and raised in Gainesville, Florida, Michael learned guitar at an early age fromsome of the finest Gainesville musicians in his neighborhood. He bought his first guitar in high
school and soon discovered he was passionate about making music a life endeavor. In the late
sixties, early seventies he formed a band with a few of his musician buddies and served as the
band’s lead vocalist and rhythm guitar player. The band, Rosewater Blue, experienced early
success on the road and was fortunate to record in several prestigious studios such as Criteria
Studio, Sea Saint Studio, Studio in the Country, and Southern
Tracks. They released their debut album, Preface, in 1976. During the ten years they were
on the road, they opened for several acts including Leo Kottke, Nitty Gritty Dirt band, Brewer and
Shipley, The Earl Scruggs Revue, and amazingly (or “funny”) enough, Cheech and Chong. The band
has remained together on and off through the last 50 years and in 2022 released their second
album, Dreamer.
Michael’s style of music is often best described as singer-songwriter, folk rock but he blends all
types of styles in his original tunes. He is currently working on music for his first solo album and
enjoys playing out in the Gainesville area whenever he gets a chance.
