ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Michael Aycox is a national award–winning public speaker and creative strategist whose work centers on curiosity, connection, and understanding how people think and create. With graduate-level education in Strategic Communication, Public Administration, and Live Entertainment Management, including advanced studies at the University of Miami, Michael brings a thoughtful, human-first approach to his work with artists and creative communities. Known for his ability to identify strengths and think beyond the obvious, his talks create space for reflection, conversation, and new ways of seeing—helping artists feel more comfortable talking about their work and showing up as themselves.
WHAT TO BRING:
To get the most out of this workshop, please bring:
1. A Handheld Piece of Art Created by You
Something small enough to hold or pass to someone else.
• Finished or representative is fine
• Something you care about (not a throwaway)
• This workshop is about communication, not critique
2. Something to Write With
A pen or pencil and paper or a notebook.
• We’ll do short writing and reflection exercises
• Handwriting is encouraged (no laptops needed)
3. An Open Mind
You don’t need to prepare anything in advance.
• No public speaking experience required
• No “sales” experience needed
• This is a supportive, judgment-free space
