About this Event
The Miami Black Women’s Forum, presented by the Centers for Student Engagement (CSE) Women's Center at Florida International University (FIU), was created to raise awareness of issues directly affecting Black women in South Florida.
The Miami Black Women’s Forum is a communal space that celebrates the history and accomplishments of Black women in the FIU and South Florida community. We have the opportunity to network and build relationships across academic disciplines and community partnerships. We focus on collective healing and empowerment that cultivates a practice of self-love, wellness, and reflection.
The full-day session will feature topics on holistic wellness, body politics, media representation, and mentorship. The Women’s Center partners with faculty, staff, and students to coordinate the program each year.
2024 Theme: She Got Next: Emerging Women Leaders
This year's theme focuses on the next generation of Black women leaders in various fields and disciplines who continue to defy the status quo, transcend barriers, facilitate transformative change, and reimagine the role of women in all spaces. Their courageous passion continues to illuminate the spaces in which they find themselves and inspires future generations to follow. The program will highlight how Black women are reclaiming their time, speaking truth to power, and exercising autonomy over their health and wellness while empowering others in their respective communities.
