October 23, 2024 - Dr. Jason L. Downing, PhD - The Million Orchid Project
Join the Miami Beach Orchid Society on October 23 at 6:30 pm at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden for our Fall Distinguished Speaker Series. This month, we are thrilled to announce a talk by Dr. Jason L. Downing, PhD, Director of the Million Orchid Project (MOP) at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Dr. Downing will share the conservation and propagation techniques used in MOP, the world’s largest orchid conservation outreach program. You will also hear about his work with the STEMLab Bus, a state-of-the-art mobile micropropagation lab. Learn about the student-driven native orchid seed banking program and hear tips for growing orchids while contributing to conservation efforts.
Admission is free for members. Non-members can join the Miami Beach Orchid Society at the meeting for $30/year.
