About Mi Gente
The Mi Gente beer collaboration started by City Built Brewing Company aims to celebrate the invaluable contributions made by Latino and Hispanic brewers within the brewing industry, bringing flavor and culture to the forefront of the brewing scene. Our overarching objective is twofold: to shine a spotlight on these talented brewers and to allocate a portion of our proceeds towards supporting deserving causes that amplify these vibrant communities.

About Scholarship
The Angel Luis and Connie Navarro Legacia Fund was founded on Dec 12, 2022 prior to the passing of Connie Navarro on December 29, 2022. December 12th is a day that is revered by many Latinos local and in their home country as it is the celebration of the Virgen de Guadalupe. Connie’s daughter, Angelita began the fund in January of 2021 for Connie’s 80th birthday present and Connie ensured that the fund was fulfilled and inaugurated prior to her passing. Between Angelita and Connie they were both able to donate the $10,000 to inaugurate the fund prior to Connie’s passing. The fund is a donor advised fund that is housed at the local Community Foundation for Muskegon County. The Fund was established for three tiers: 1. To support scholarships for higher education for Muskegon County Latino students to higher education/trade schools, 2. To support local Latino entrepreneurs and their businesses and 3. local community initiatives to support Spanish speakers.
Both Angel Luis and Connie Navarro dedicated their lives to being advocates within the local Muskegon County Latino community. Their love for culture, Latino leadership and services began in 1964 when they married after meeting in the fields of Mears, Michigan. The Navarro's held the first one-hour TV program called "Hora con Navarro", the first Spanish radio show called "Magia Latina” and created the only Latino non-profit in Muskegon County called Latinos Working for the Future in 1991 which remains active today. In 1978 they bought a Latino based grocery store called Navarro's Grocery which held Latino household staples such as Adobo, rice, and beans. This establishment later turned into what is today known as Navarro's Mexican Take Out and has been a Muskegon staple since then. Angel Luis and Connie Navarro were examples in the community and their work continues to carry on as their non-profit remains in existence and is the creator of the Muskegon County Latino Festival which is now in its 4th year.

Muskegon County residents are able to apply for the Navarro’s Fund through the Community Foundation for Muskegon County on a rolling basis throughout the year. The Navarro’s hoped to encourage young Latinos to continue in their education, to have their own businesses and to ensure that the community helps one another. Requests must either benefit Latino initiatives and/or scholarships for local entrepreneurs or students based in Muskegon County.
