About this Event

Mezza + Meryenda is a family-friendly Palestinian Pilipinx solidarity event featuring a community conversation with chef Reem Assil, owner of Reem’s California and author of Arabiyya: Recipes from the Life of an Arab in Diaspora.

Preservation of cultural food ways is a political act and we’ll partake in significant Palestinian dishes meant for sharing. We will learn the stories and significance of ingredients like za’atar, sumac, sesame, olive oil, rose water, and more, drawing connections between Palestinian and Pilipinx cultures, food practices, and ongoing struggles for land and liberation.
