About this Event
Join members and friends at our Antiques, Arts, and Culture Group in person at the Clubhouse or from your own home. If you are attending in person, bring your lunch. Dessert and beverages will be provided by our hostesses.
Clubmember Claudia Lopez of The Guatemalan Boutique will tell us about the indigenous history and culture of Mexico and Guatemala and discuss Mexican silver. Bring items to share that relate to Aztec and Mayan culture.
Claudia is the owner and curator of the Guatemala Boutique, LLC, and the Guatemalan Boutique Tours, LLC. Both companies are a testimony to her passion for culture. One company showcases beautiful folk art, while the other takes you on cultural adventures. She left her professional career in 2011 upon realizing that her heart was deeply rooted in becoming a culture expert.
She is a member of the San Jose Woman’s Cub where she has presented as an expert on topics such as Mexican Silver Jewelry and Textiles of Guatemala. She has served as Vice-President on the Teatro Vision’s Board of Directors since 2015; and she is a member of Opera Cultura’s Board of Directors since 2020. Both companies are based in San Jose, CA. Claudia has also served as a docent at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles in San Jose, CA.
She is an expert on the creation of Day of the Dead altars and has provided instruction and installation of altars at institutions such as San Jose State University, Santa Clara University, San Jose Multicultural Artist Guild, the Mexican Heritage Plaza, the New Museum of Los Gatos, the Mexican Consulate in San Jose, Gilroy Arts Alliance Center, and El Teatro Campesino.
Claudia holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Master of Public Administration (project pending).
