Join Claudia Berumen for a fun and creative workshop inspired by hojalata, a traditional Mexican craft that transforms metal into colorful, embossed designs! This popular folk art technique involves cutting, engraving, and painting to create decorative pieces such as ornaments, mirrors, and wall art. Learn about its rich history and create your own unique hojalata-inspired piece with embossed aluminum. Enjoy pan dulce from a local bakery and agua fresca while you work.

About the Instructor
Claudia Berumen is a first-generation Mexican-American, born and raised in Santa Barbara, CA, with family roots in Zacatecas and a heart deeply rooted in community. She is a cultural worker, creative, and workshop facilitator who brings warmth, tradition, and joy into every space she holds. With over a decade of experience in human services and a strong foundation in trauma-informed care and servant leadership, Claudia now co-manages Alebrije Talleres y Tesoros—a family-run home and garden shop she runs alongside her husband from Oaxaca, celebrating the richness of Mexican artesanía and culture. Through her workshops, Claudia invites people of all ages to heal, create, and reconnect—with their creativity, their comunidad, and themselves.
