The son of Metropolis' master planner, Freder Frederson discovers his father’s utopian world is, in fact, built on the backs of a class of underground workers. Freder unites with working-class leader Maria to oppose the stark class divides and unite the city. Fritz Lang’s silent science-fiction masterpiece is stunningly realised in Art Deco and Bauhaus detail. The 2010 restoration brings together rare footage, previously considered lost, and the original orchestral score from the film’s premiere.
