Metro districts are a key financing tool for public infrastructure in residential and commercial communities throughout the state. This course provides a comprehensive overview of metropolitan districts, exploring their purpose, structure, and impact on communities. Designed for residents, policymakers, and industry professionals, the course covers key aspects of metro districts, including why they are used, the legal framework governing them, the mechanics of their financing, and the latest legislation enhancing disclosure and transparency for homeowners and homebuyers.
Kristi Pollard is the Executive Director of the Metro District Education Coalition (MDEC), a nonprofit dedicated to educating Coloradans on how metro districs help keep housing affordable through the funding, building, and maintenance of public infrastructure. Prior to her time with MDEC, Kristi served as the President and CEO of the Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation, a nonprofit striving to create greater economic vitality. She has diverse experience working in the public, private and nonprofit sectors having been the Executive Director of the Grand Junction Economic Partnership, the CEO of the Colorado Mesa University Foundation, Stakeholder Engagement Specialist for Chevron, and an Area Director for the United States Senate.
Kristi understands the importance of her word and believes that it is one of the most valuable things in her possession. She also knows that collaboration and communication are the keys to success and strives to create a team atmosphere wherever she goes.
